Remote tribe accepts English books and bibles

Donating English books to teachers from the Cabecar Tribe in Costa Rica.
Mark and Linda Roth look on as Hugo and his wife review English books.
We met with Hugo, a leader and surprisingly an English teacher for the Cabécar Indians. Wikipedia says that this is both the largest Indigenous group in Costa Rica and the most isolated. Hugo and his wife, seen sitting at the table in both pictures had to walk a couple hours to get to a place where they could get a car ride to meet with us. Mark Roth and Joel Sanchez had met with Hugo when the HRTWAM group donated toiletries and food. When Hugo found out we were teaching English and had books we could donate, he was very interested in meeting with us.
We were surpised to learn that his English curriculum is the same one used throughout the entire country by MEP (Costa Rican Ministry of Education). Interestingly, he is the first secondary school teacher we've met here. We donated more advanced textbooks that were given to us by the Emporia School District back in Kansas. His wife is a lower elementary school teacher, so she was very glad to receive some story books for her students.
Reviewing English materials with teachers from the Cabecar tribe.
Mark and Hugo read the Beginner's bible as Deanne Howell looks on.
We then asked if he would be interested in storybooks. Many of them had bible themes. They were very excited about the "Beginner's Bible" in English. In total we gave them 7 boxes of books. They will need to use horses to get all these materials up to their tribe. We also offered to teach at their public school. We have accepted his invitation to visit his school in April and teach for two days.
